Auto-Charge on Completion: Pressure Washing Payments That Happen When the Crew Taps Complete

Auto-charge is the setting that takes the owner out of collections. Instead of somebody in the office deciding each afternoon which cards to run, the charge happens on its own at the moment the work is done. For a company with one or two rigs washing a dozen properties a day, that is a lot of small decisions that no longer need a person.

Card on File Is Step One

Getting Paid on the Spot: Card on File for Pressure Washing Jobs explained how cards get on file and why customers are usually happy to leave one. Auto-charge is what you do with that card. A card on file that someone still has to charge by hand is only half the job.

How Auto-Charge on Completion Works

The sequence in PressureWashingBossPro is short:

  1. The crew finishes the job and takes the after photos in the crew app.
  2. They tap Complete on the job card.
  3. The invoice is created from the surfaces and prices on the job.
  4. The card on file is charged for the invoice total.
  5. The customer gets the invoice, already marked paid.

Nobody in the office touched it. The crew did not need to know anything about the customer's payment. If the crew is on a night commercial route at 2am, the charge still happens at 2am, and the office sees it all in the morning.

Charging on a Schedule Instead

Completion is not the right moment for every customer. PressureWashingBossPro can also charge a card on file on a schedule. A few cases where that makes sense:

Pick one approach per customer and stick with it. A customer who knows how they get charged does not call to ask.

Telling the Customer Up Front

Auto-charge only feels good to a customer who expected it. The surprise charge, even for work they asked for, is the one that turns into a dispute. A few habits keep it clean:

Recurring Work and Auto-Charge

Auto-charge is at its best on recurring work. A yearly house wash customer is set to 365 days between visits. When the visit comes due it lands on the Waiting List, the office schedules it, the crew washes it, taps Complete, and the card is charged. The customer does not have to remember anything from last year, and neither do you.

The same goes for a storefront washed every 30 days on a monthly plan. The work comes due, gets done and gets paid, month after month, with the office only stepping in when something unusual happens. Yearly plans have their own guide: Billing Yearly House Wash Plans: Pressure Washing Customers Who Come Back Every 365 Days.

When the Job Changes on Site

Auto-charge works off the job, so the job needs to be right. If the customer adds the back patio while the crew is there, the job should be updated before Complete so the charge matches. If the crew cannot wash part of the job — a locked gate, a car that never moved off the driveway — they note it, and the office adjusts.

A simple rule for the crew: if the work is different from the card, tell the office before tapping Complete. A simple rule for the office: check skipped and changed jobs at the end of the day. Between the two, auto-charged invoices stay accurate.

What Auto-Charge Does Not Replace

Auto-charge does not replace looking at your billing. Some charges will fail on expired cards, and those invoices stay open until the customer updates the card in the customer app. Some customers will pay by invoice instead. A quick look at open invoices at the end of each week, and a fuller review at month-end, catches anything auto-charge did not.

Let Complete Do the Collecting

With auto-charge on completion, a pressure washing company gets paid at the same moment it finishes the work, without adding a step for the crew or the office. PressureWashingBossPro creates the invoice and charges the card on file when the crew taps Complete, or on a schedule you set.
