What to Look for in a Pressure Washing Software Demo
A software demo is designed to look good. The person running it knows exactly which buttons to click and which screens to skip. Your job is to make the demo show you how the software handles your work, not a made-up perfect day.
Demo Before the Season, Not During It
The pressure of a full spring schedule, covered in Running the Busy Season in Pressure Washing Software Instead of Your Head, is the worst time to learn new software. Look at demos in the quieter months if you can, so you have time to set up properly before the rush.
PressureWashingBossPro has a live demo you can click through yourself before talking to anyone, with sample data already in it. That is a good place to start: you see the real screens, not slides.
Bring Real Jobs
Before any demo, write down three or four real jobs from your own business and ask to see each one go from start to finish. A good set:
- A residential combo. A 2-story vinyl house wash plus a driveway and back patio, soft wash on the house, surface cleaner on the flatwork.
- A roof. A roof soft wash on a 1-story home with plants along the beds.
- A recurring commercial stop. A drive-thru washed every month before opening.
- A multi-location account. A restaurant group or HOA with several addresses that wants one bill a month.
Watch how each job is quoted, scheduled, routed, completed and billed. If any step needs a workaround, notice it.
Questions About Job Details
This is where generic field-service software falls short. Ask:
- Where do I enter the surfaces, square feet, stories, siding and wash method?
- Do those details show on the schedule and the crew's phone, or only inside the job?
- Where do access notes go: spigot location, gate code, dog, plants to cover?
- Do details on the estimate carry onto the job when it is approved?
- Can I measure a driveway or roof from satellite and price off it?
If the answer to most of these is “put it in the notes,” the software was not built for washing.
Questions About Recurring Work and Routes
- How are recurring visits set up? By fixed calendar dates or by days since the last visit?
- How do I see what is due and overdue, on a map?
- Can I filter the schedule by rig?
- Can I auto-route a day from my shop and then adjust the order by hand?
- Does the crew's phone show the same order as the office?
Questions About the Crew and Customer Apps
- Do my operators need an app store download, or does it run in the browser?
- How do they log in? Can I turn off one person without changing everyone's login?
- Can they take before-and-after photos, skip with a note and complete on site?
- Do customers get on-the-way and arrived texts automatically?
- What can the customer see and do on their side? Live route, invoices, card updates, payment?
Questions About Money
- Does completing a job create the invoice automatically?
- Can I charge a card on file at completion or on a schedule?
- How are past-due invoices followed up?
- Can a commercial account get one monthly statement covering every location?
- What does the software itself cost, and what is extra? Users, rigs, texts, the crew app?
For PressureWashingBossPro, the plans are Start at $59 a month, Pro at $89 and Crew at $199, with the crew app and customer app on every plan and a monthly text allowance included.
Bring Someone Who Runs a Rig
If you have an operator you trust, bring them to the demo or hand them a phone during it. They will notice things an owner misses: whether the job card shows enough to set up without calling, whether the buttons are easy to hit with wet hands, whether the navigation opens where they expect. Their buy-in also matters later. Software the crew helped choose is software the crew actually uses.
Red Flags
Watch for these during any demo:
- The presenter avoids showing the crew app on a real phone.
- Recurring work requires creating each visit by hand.
- The answer to most trade-specific questions is “custom fields” you have to build yourself.
- Pricing is hard to pin down, or key features are add-ons.
- Setup requires weeks of paid onboarding before you can try anything.
After the Demo, Try It Yourself
A demo shows what is possible. A free trial shows what it is like to use on a Tuesday. Put your real customers in, run a real week, and see if it holds up. If you are coming from other software, read Switching Pressure Washing Software Without Losing Your Customers or Your Season before you start.
